It was His destiny
To be born
On a clear and silent night
Long before men, were thought of;
Long before He declared
"Let there be light".
The occasion was so sacred;
God, in His highest,
Graced mankind
To have His message told
On a chill, and silent night.
The heavens became alive
With stars
The scent of wild flowers was everywhere.
A Shepherd's flock gathered calm
As he nodded with weariness
A few moments gone
As he awoke from restful dream.
A nursing ewe, said to him,
"The Child was born tonight.
Did you hear, what I hear?
The Child was born tonight".
Startled! he jumped to his feet
Knowing he was not asleep
A Lupus lost in a misty cloud
Looked at the shepherd, said to him
"Did you hear what I hear?
The child was born tonight".
A donkey notched him
Said to the shepherd,
"Did you see, what I saw?
The bright star that'll show you
The way.
Come! I'll show you the way"
The shepherd rejoiced.
The shepherd mounted the donkey
To praise the Child
All the critters followed
The bright star on a journey
To see the Child that was born
On the night
The animals talked.
