Poem Artwork

I miss the lightening bugs of Georgia
Something special about them
Magical spirits capturing
Creativity on a whim
Add the aroma of Jasmine
The top down on the car
Wafting images of tracers
Like comet's tails afar
Collecting these magic moments
Lights going on and off
No reasoning needed for answers
Trusting a night this soft
Children need reasons for magic
In this world of war and terror
Lightening bugs turn on the magic
Erasing bad karma's fever
Love to the Georgia Lightening Bug
With their mystical spring mating call
It's the flavor of southern evenings
I miss them a lot ...you all.

nice catchy verse! I miss them too (not necesarily the GA. species) but when I was a kid on Long Island, the summer night skies were lit up with their love blinkings. Still some in Vermont in summer. But, you see this is the price of progress! They can't do their thing when the pavement takes over! Nice poem

Wonderful and just the right dose of summer magic and youthful charm in this one to make me feel like laying on my back in a field on a warm balmy evening instead of the icy cold of a Canadian winter. lol Thanks for the temporary reprieve.

Susan, this is full of beautiful images, opening a pandora's box of imaginations. I like the warm nostalgic feeling I got as I read this. I use to chase after lightening bugs for hours and put them in a jar and watch their little glows of lights twinkle before my eyes...wow, the beauty of those glows and my childlike imaginations. This is a great writing.

I love it when you talk of Georgia, Susan. It seems Disneyland for certain sure to my iggo Brit-eye. I have visions of you as Grace Kelly ALWAYS when you write like this. I dodged a tiny little fruit bat mid-afternoon at the harbour's edge recently, but it didn't quite light me up in THIS way....!! :))

I think the closet thing we've got here in the UK are radioactive pigeons...but you sure evoke some wonderful imagery in this superb write Susan. I think we all need reasons for magic in this seemingly war ridden world.

I miss lightning bugs in general, doesn't matter what state they're from. Don't see as many as we used to, growing up...very sad. Used to always say when seeing one, "I wonder, I wonder, why lightning bugs don't thunder." LOL Well penned, Susan.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

I sometimes see lightning bugs in the summer, but not Georgia bugs. I see Texas lightning bugs. I don't see them as much as I used to; and that is a very sad thing. Excellent write, Susan; I like. Very much! BRAVA!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :)

They need all the special things in the world, and also all the special things we can give them. Great write.

Don't see many anymore in the Summer nights here on the Island. But they bring back pleasant, peaceful memories of when I was a kid.
