I went up to the mountains
Looking for a memory
I learned that simple air
Isn't what it used to be
The constant rush of everyday
Distorts the facts of life
There I just l-e-t i-t g-o
Releasing pent up strife
My muscles suddenly talked to me
When before they burned complete
Tension had me combustionable
I was my own defeat
My smile was much more generous there
I think I broke my face
I enhaled without coughing up
Old city smog's after-taste
My eyes were much more greener
The redness was all gone
My step had spring
I scaled the blue
Recalling this , my home
You've heard of mountain magic
As far as my eyes could see
I found what I'd been missing
While searching for a memory
I lost myself, as I recall
When living was more pure
Since man became responsible
It's worsened now, I'm sure
I flew right through working hard
To gain the material boon
The material comes to own you
It happens all too soon
We want much more than we can keep
When we are called away
We leave the same as we came in
It's life we need to pay
The simple joy of fresh air
Nature's green abyss
Is all coming to an end
Then this will all be missed
The sky's so blue in Highlands
As far as one can see
It's what we take for granted
While searching for a memory.
Susan, isn't life grand! Always living in the moment, never harboring negativity. It's healthier and much more zen! Good to see you back, this poem speaks to me.
Much peace, love, and light,

My heart is definitely in the highlands with this poem, susan. The mountain greenery where God paints the scenery.

When I think of beautiful country and the sumptuousness of nature I recall the high country of Wyoming the short time I was there. There was magic there. When I stood on a precipice and looking down into a deep valley I got the sense of something II have never quite regained. A spiritual sense. And when I looked toward the sky I was covered with the fullness of "being." Wow! My memories are have been shaken loose / Great poem, with some lasting passages . . .
