This is the tears of war. The fees we pay for freedom. It is battles' destiny that touches home in it's final tribute.

Ave Maria echoes from the rafters of the domed cathedral
It pierces the silence of doom that befriends the dead
Organs become mute to voices of angels here for burial
Where war returns the Patriot to his beloved unafraid
Colors of bravery cloak the pine as tears wash over his courage
Grief is alive while bravery is spoken instead
Mortals grieve for the Gods of Destiny
Festooned with wings now the sons of the Dead
Ava Maria the chorus of angels sing to the spirits
While hearts reach out for love that will never be fed
Chorused accompanied escorts take but another statistic of war
To the God of all equals who rages at man's decision to scar.
Dear Susan...thanks for sharing this work of art...simply stunning write...love n luck...BHUWAN

Susan, what beauty I see in this roughly hewn Chruch. It sets the stage for your very insighful poem. And it helps build up your delivery to a crescendo; until I can hear the voice of the dammed crying in the wilderness and praying for the souls still dying. Stop the war! Stop the war!
