I do not have to be a mother to understand the pain that a parent would go through watching the process of ostracization by others. There is a reason and I am sure you shall find out what that reason is in time to help so it does not become a stigma. You did not mention what the "Label" is so it is difficult to grasp the problem that exists outside of the fact of being left out by others. Enjoy your child for now and make up for the lack of company with a little extra love but not too much or excessive attention that it becomes a crutch. It is a fine balance and I am sure you shall find the answers soon. Remember that children, at first, can be so cruel to others and lack interpersonal skills...that takes time. Your son is special and you cannot expect other children to realize that right away...be patient.

If there a "label" on your son, if so what kind of "label"? We all want to protect our children against physical or mental harm, but to say that, "No one wants to play with him! and that he is always left out". As caring, loving parents we sometimes do not see a problem that may actually be within our own child. The problem may be shyness or maybe even bossiness on his part or maybe the problem is really just within his imagination. The wonderful attributes that you see in your son may not be how he is looked upon or thought of by his playmates. So long as he is not being bullied, I would speak to his teacher to see how he is in the classroom. I was a very shy kid and always felt left out, but it was more due to my attitude than the attitude of the other kids."The most precious gift I have ever received. How come no one sees just how special he is?" Most parents feel this same way about their children.
Nothing here stated to hurt you, Chessly, but, to me, the problem seems to be within your son.

Wrong there is one main person that sees daily just how special your boy is and the table will soon turn one amazing day and what goes around will come back around onto all those with an ugly heart .Therefore it will be that boy who at one disappointing time thought it was the end of his world as it just begins. It happens no lie, cruel people get it back in tough ways as half those cheerleaders I later in life heard awful stories how they chose the wrong path and their fine life went down hill badly! .Furthermore your precious boy will grow to learn that friends like that were not worth having! Young children can be very cruel without realizing it. Some of us still remember back when we were so very young the slurs hurled at us. He has you and that is all he needs.

Love your poem.
It is incredibly painful to watch our children be ignored or ostracized or otherwise abused by children or a teacher. I have seen this with my own also. I have always wished I had put my son through Montessori school. There is something really nice about the way the children move around throughout the day and are treated like such individuals. I taught music in several of these schools and was charmed with the environment of acceptance. Regular public schools can be wonderful, but when things go wrong it just seems to spiral down so quickly in such a rigid environment.

Have a meeting with his teachers and see if they can shed any light as to what is going on. How about kids in your neighborhood, do they act in the same way? You have to discover what is happening before you take any drastic actions like pulling him out of school.If all this fails, seek professional help.

peer pressure starts earlier now a days
than ever before. I can hardly believe
some of the words in name calling
I hear about within the elementary school kids.
It is shocking, I had no idea little ones
are dealing with this sort of thing.

...but to be isolated? I feel bad for you both
social skills are crucial too. I hope maybe
you can speak with administration or the teacher
to resolve so he can have some friends
