A movie inspired this piece...

Haunting memories follow her,

she is unable to suppress

“those dark thoughts" any longer

a word,...and especially touches

triggers horror deep to the core

of her of her being ;her world implodes,

all control lost, she sees only colors

of  bright crimson, oblivious of pain,

her blood everywhere,

the warmth is ironically soothing.

She awakens to aseptic odors and white coats

disoriented, takes in her surroundings

no one responds to her questions,

and talk as though she’s invisible

“it was an accident” ,

the words mouthed, but unspoken

unable to convey remorse, muscles

spaghetti-limp, el dente

Marriage is her not-so- great escape

she is stunned by her “history” lesson

how could this be, love and honor?

her psyche is crushed once again

is love and pain, one in the same?

Disillusioned, pondering her fate

she lies in fractured pieces,

“Assembly required” if you’re

interested in me.. too many pieces missing,

the shards are miniscule, is this over-reacting,

or  normal human response to an aberrant situation.

She hopes to gather those delicate pieces,

and become whole...once again
