Somebody Stole Friday

This is a poem from my book A Pursuit of Life. It makes fun about the fact that my memory isn't what it used to be and about growing older.

This is a poem from my book
titled "A pursuit of life" which
contains about 130 others and
should be available by late March.

Somebody Stole Friday

Don't know how it happened,
but time has finally slipped away.
I went to bed Thursday night
and woke up on Saturday.

When I went to get my paper,
it was Friday, I would swear.
But, when I opened it up
it said Saturday, right there.

When I went to my pill box,
it happened once again.
There was just an empty space
where my Friday pills had been.

Talk about time flyin'
it even disappears.
Days and weeks and months,
somehow turn into years.

Just a short time ago,
I still felt like a kid.
When suddenly all my energy
ran off somewhere and hid.

Seems like only yesterday
I retired from Peoples Bank.
Still full of piss & vinegar,
now there's nothing in my tank.

I don't know how it happened,
but suddenly I'm old.
It's been over 20 years,
since my life was put on hold.

Now my Friday's missing
and Saturday's going fast.
Then, next thing you know,
another whole year has passed.
