The missing bride,
surely did go hide.
She wasn't abducted,
her brain was disrupted.
She got cold feet,
before her wedding meet.

Marriage is a big step,
the vows have to be kept.
Many flunk out,
after they find what it's about.
My feet were in ice,
still I made the sacrifice.

I wanted to hide,
but I went on and took the ride.
At times I could still disappear,
but I'm still here.
After twenty years going,
I still don't know
what I'm doing.

Crazy story, isn't it?
I feel sad for the embarrasment to her family AND her fiance.
She must have "total jerk" tatoo'd on her backside somewhere.
Nicely done, Grady.

Many couples marry without the slightest idea of what marriage, trust and obligation really mean. For a marriage to be successful, BOTH parties should be equally in love and willing to work at its success. Good poem!

That girl was obviously scared to death of marriage. Her fiancee should seriously reconsider going the distance. However, if he can forgive her for making everybody she could be dead at any moment and making him take a lie-detector test, just because she had cold feet, he's a better man than I.

LOL, Grady. Life is an ongoing learning experience as is marriage. That girl was so wrong to go about it as she did. To call off a wedding is one thing, or even to just not show up at the alter, but to make those who love her think that you had been abducted or that she was in some other horrible state is a very wrong thing to do. She has to be scrambled to think that her actions could be justified. Good write on the subject, Grady.
Take care,
Sherry

Dear Grady,
The poem is a bit personal to be interpreted by me but I can appreciate good writing when I see it. I have not been very active lately on AD but I do enjoy your work and wanted to let you know this. Keep on writing and expressing as all true poets do.
