Spirits are all around, some lift us up, others knock us down. The ones that lift us up, can hardly fill our cup. The ones that knock down, almost own our ground.
As human beings weak and strong, we've got to know where we want to belong. The devil is an evil spirit, don't speak up, he can't hear it. Scream it out loud, know and stand proud.
" I tell you evil spirits this, my assoe you can kiss. I have no intentions of bowing, even if my wounds are showing. My face is in God's light, not evils dark of night."
I said it, and I mean it.
Words can be cheap, evil will still try to creep. So goes our dilemma, lucky if we don't suffer a trauma. Sure there's contradiction, all we can hope for is benediction.
I don't believe in devils; they are the boggey-men of organized religion to keep the offering basket full of coins, but there is certainly evil in the world. No outside force makes man evil...it is within him. Truly a thoughtful poem, Grady.
