From the tree I run,
hanging around the tree is no fun.
With thousands of trees around,
I seemed to be losing ground.
The kkk white robe dopes,
also had plenty of ropes.

Life seems to be ropes, trees and klan,
for poor me,
the black man.
Forced on the slave ship,
brought here,
then beat with a whip.
Beat until my back was raw,
no mattress to sleep on,
only straw.

If I got to sleep at all,
before the klan came to call.
People now trying to figure,
why I hate the word "nigger."
All of my fellow man
I do not hate,
only those with the klan trait.

Some say I should be grateful,
taken from the jungle hateful.
I traded one jungle for another,
only to be abused by my white brother.
Can't seem to figure which is worse,
this human jungle or the land I thirst.

I knew wild animals in the jungle existed,
can't get over my mean fellow humans twisted.
The mean black or white,
some in the jungle aren't right.
Some also with black skin,
help commit the slave sin.

The mean black or white,
some in the jungle aren't right.

And very tragically, and very sadly, they have always existed, and they will probably always continue to exist among us.

Slavery has been around since mankind began.
The Romans,Egyptians,etc, all had slaves.
Black folks can get most anything they want
these days. I respect black people, don't
mean them any harm, nor any other race.
I think it's time to forget about all the
past wrongs of slavery. Slavery is wrong.
These are my feelings, don't mean to offend you
Grady or anyone else. Sometimes we can let
things that happen in the past run and ruin our lives.
I even have black human customers. We don't talk
about how we were treated. The thing is, we treat
each other good today, and with the up most respect.
No matter what color we are, some of us will always
do very wrong.
Peace on earth Grady.........

Hi

I have been reading your poetry for a few days now and have not reviewed any. This is because your words invoke within me anger.

It angers me that any human being could treat another human being with anything but respect and love.
I sometimes wonder about the fact that, a country can set itself up as champions of freedom,in foreign lands, yet do nothing about the opression, and bigotry at home.
You write with a Pasion and a deep seated anger at the injustice of the society in which you live. For this I salute you, and bow my head in homage.
