If I can't back up my roses with loving and kindness I'm not giving any out. Some people might as well cut the lovely petals off and give out the stems.

Poem Artwork

Lord knows
I've given out the rose
don't even have to suppose
My focus was on the lovely flower
not the thorn prick of power
If anyone reached for the stem
it was basically on them
I never intended for anyone to sink
always intended for them to swim

I know cases where roses were given
the reciever is no longer living
Done away with by the flower giver
drunks alcohol destroyed their liver
The end results is enough to
make one quiver
Maybe they should have never
been a rose giver
but there's nothing like trying
however who wants to
end up dying

I should beg everyones pardon
but the rose should stay in the garden
A person badly abused
will no longer be amused
They'll end up totally confused
from being always used
Then handed a rose flower
when basically love has turned sour
It was sour all along
maybe neither did not belong

i don't much care for roses myself, but, i don't think this write is really about a rose--for we all are flowers aren't we-i like it!

My wife wore a smile that touched my heart when ever I gave her a rose and she still had a petal in her Bible as a reminder of the first rose I gave her so many years ago when she was my young and lovely bride. Roses to me are a pure symbol of love.

You make some excellent points in this fine poem, but methinks there are those who give from the heart to those who receive with their hearts, and i love roses whoever gives them to me;-)
