Howdy good old neighbor
did you know slavery was
all about cheap labor
It had nothing to do with inferiority
moreso it was about superiority
Strong black man the sun
will not burn yield
we need your services in the field
Don't even trip

If I am a white man next door
will you hate me even more
If I am a black man next to you
will you hate me because of
my color too
If I support president Obama
will you cause me any trauma
If I don't support the president
will I still be welcomed as a resident

If everything I do isn't of your liking
will you try to send me hiking
even though I am a kind person
and not a crazy Viking
Religiously speaking
will your hate be peeking
Can we be good neighbors if
we don't agree
or no matter what I do will
you continue to hate me

Maybe if we don't agree on a
lot of things
we can agree that we both are
human beings
Individual in experiences and mind
with the God given ability to
be loving, understanding and kind
or am I just blind
