When Rabbit Howls
It starts again, an itch on my brain
and I scream
I scream like a newborn babe, who,
much like a opera singer,
lets loose to leave my voice strained
lessening
to a linger softly faded
.
For years I've been denied my reward
and I am righteous with wrath
the ire that burns inside
leaves my vision red and jaundiced,
as if my sight portrayed the fall
of sanity into this sweet place
which has been so long wanted,
so greedily craved
for what has seemed centuries
.
This is it, my certain path
leads to the satisfaction
which, now at long last,
let's loose the howl of rabbits
