In many parts of the world, women are victims of their own gender as cultures don't allow them to enjoy same rights with their male counterparts.
At birth I felt unwelcome
At five I was circumcised
At school I dropped too early
I'm locked up in a steam of abuse
I am a victim of my gender
I am a girl. I'm an African
At puperty tragedy had visited me
I was decoyed in a trap of arranged marriage
Dad swaped me off to an old man
In return he got a shining dowry
A hefty sum it was at the time
Two cows and a goat was my price
Without my consent I became a wife
In the hands of the old man I fell
I am now a iving item in his house
He takes pride over my submissiveness
He toys with my very being as a human
He reduced me to an object of pleasure
I am a victim of my gender
I am a woman. I'm an African
In Somali DULMAN is my name

Quite sad how women are subjected to this kind of treatment in many parts of the world still...and yet these countries want the rest of us to think of them as civilised ?

Dear Abdi I thank you my brother for keeping our eyes open, lest we forget what a short distance man has come since creation. Hell on earth is lived in by many women all over the world. It saddens me that in the motherland progress moves so slowly for women and their children. Peace and blessings. Your sister Mikii
Abdi Noor what a sad situation you depict! To know this still exists is heartbreaking. The humanity of this world has a lot to be ashamed about! An issue that needs to be addressed and you did it well!
