Wasn't it the catholics who set the calendar. As much as I hate routine I think it would be chaos without some kind of order Abdi Noor! No one has ever offered any better way to change the system, which leads me to believe it is a fairly decent one. Creator knew what He wanted with the rotations of sun/moon /planet etc and that is basically what our system is based on. did you have something in mind? I'd love to hear it. It would be exciting to find a better way wouldn't it;-?

I think the answer lies in the fact that mankind always feels the need to control everything - including time. Primitive people, and most animals, are simply content to mark the passage of the seasons, not needing, or caring, what year, month, week, day, hour, or minute it really is.

I know that answer, but I can't remember it! LOL. I think that originally it was all based on the cycle of the moon, which is 28 days. Blocks of time were named after leaders who wanted to be remembered...some thinking themselves so much better than the rest that they added days to the 28 to feel important and special. I think science kicked in at some point and gave us the 29th day in February once every 4th year to make the earth/sun cycle correct. At any rate, we certainly have become habituated to this week, month, year thing...and what is the deal with daylight savings time, anyway??? The older I get the harder it is for me to adjust to that lost or gained hour.
