they are the pretenders
loving you
giving you
taking you
from you
stealing your value
filling you with tiny drops of hate
and the tears fall
always falling from you
tears for the day you died
the day after you were born
because they stole you
from you
and since that day
innocence has never been the same
and so you hide
before they find
anymore of you

very true - i can feel your words in my own biography. Innocence is quickly and easily destroyed, yet one's true soul will always re-emerge.

Sara, I have found that many good-hearted people continue to give more and more even after “they” have tried to steal all that we think “they” could possibly steal from us, my gifted friend. It is what separates the “decent and caring folks” from “savages.” An extremely deep meaning and well-crafted composition. Thank you for sharing. Take good care and be well.

Deep cutting edge and leaves the reader wanting to reach out and offer love and not ask anything in return but to see a smile of sunshine on a friends face.
