Weekend Escapade

Poem Artwork

as if allergic to too much light
she runs from room to room
searching out a peace filled solace
where the seeing pretend blindness

her safety net a nook behind the big coats
bulky goulashes cloak her feet
with the door tightly shut no light goes in or out
blindness sets the table

gulping breathes between silent sobs
her mind takes off for better places
soaring high up through the sky
then diving hard beneath the sea

oh how she likes to marvel
at the differing shades of blue
illuminated by her imagination
her escape clause filtering out light

anxiously she waits for the all clear
the thunderous sound of a drop
and then a loud persistent snore
permeates the foul air, deep sigh

heaven and hell are torn asunder
blues have turned orange, red and purple
solace seeks peace in the darkness
feared by many but revered by night
