Consistently dependable Bette
Always making rubble of my psyche
While she subtlety points out
I’m too smart
To be so stupid
Her commentary always leaves me smiling
And questioning
The relevance of my irrelevance
Like a bullwhip she lashes my
Associative disassociation
Releasing me from
The big bad robber
Heart throbber
Of my past
Present
And future
