Would you say, “Snap out of it”
to a person having a stroke,
who can’t keep their balance.
Would you treat it as a joke?

Would you say to a cancer patient,
“It’s all in your mind.
That it’ll go away eventually.
It’s only a matter of time!”

When a person is having a heart attack
would you decline 911,
claiming that this is a phase?
Would you do that to your son?

Then why ignore depression?
Rejecting help is sheer pride
that wants to create its own facts
that are apart
from reality’s present tide.

Know that death is a reality too--
one that can’t be denied
when it takes place!

We can’t say that the person didn’t die
when tears
are coming out of a loved ones face!

Real men and women ask for help.
True wisdom is when we know
we don’t have all the answers.
Accept the help when it is revealed.
Respect depression
the way you respect cancer.
