The woods are lovely, dark and deep … Robert Frost
The jungle safari
A breeze just blew past my way
The enslaving essence of an early day
The morning bliss, so cool and gay
The bounty of the rising Sun
A new way to go on with life
Enlightened ! It is sheer delight
A new day unfolding now
Into the forest was the ride
The jungle core opens before my eyes
On its own , old and strong, green topped trees waving stood
The trunks jet black ,some were brown white and grey, creamy smooth
Shining pearl like, ghost tree appeared so scary still in the day
Tall and slender with appealing smile so as to say ha ha ha
The dead trees lie decaying around
Giving back each bit to the land that bore
Twining trunks into each other fused
The wilderness proclaiming loud!
Amongst animals , trees it was equally found
The tiger cubs strongly made
Their mother's milk, fed and fattened , muscular, strong
In strength training they should be first
Tigress works towards it best!
Roaming jungle with cubs as many
A resounding roar, a prowling catch
Showing her might while they watch and learn
when she grows old, her end is sad
Fallen teeth ,broken claws makes her victim in the fight
No old age home, no senior care
it is jungle life, they are aware
Each creature big or small
A perfect ten in the final count
Survival of the fittest, is the test
Darwins theory is at its best
Termites big mounts says it all.
The creatures co exist in a way they understand
Knowing better when the predator is around.
The tiger majestically walks the jungle, nocturnal most times
a strolling pace, guarding its space
sleeps through the day whichever way
The muscular Gaur nibbling leaves ,
Head held high , looks flashy and large
With a rich brown shine ,
Its shapeless blown out body so cute
Out in the open on its feet
Texture of skin blending in dry of leaves
The herd of deer clammering around
The amazing look of royal stag
With horns like branches spread on head
Its naughty eyes singularly glued to the Doe
She delicately moves around as if unaware!
The wild rabbit Hare went to care for its Jill
The jeep disturbing ! middle of night how dare!
With its grey white fur, pricked ears, the two hopped away into darkness ,
Catch us if u can silly! We are Jack and Jill!
The male of most species walked alone
While females are together
Peacock with mate dancing next morning found
The peahen helplessly moved round and round
The rustling leaves, the clarion calls,
the mating dance in this paradise
A place where they live life king size,
The sounds of birds, pleasing ears
Each to its own, life goes on
Conservation being the theme and is right!
Human beings learnt to give them space
Our survival as a race depends on it!
Bringing back more jungle, creating a better environment for farming as well as funds from tourism like your Safari, will enhance India in many ways. The most obvious are to improve clean water supplies and cleaner air.
Thanks for your poem outlining the wonders of Indian jungles.

I could smell the Earth, and almost touch the fur of the animals…
“the woods are lovely, dark and deep”…
We need to remember that conservation is of the utmost importance…
for our survival depends upon it…
Best wishes,
Diana…🍃
