Standing at the brink

(I dare not breathe, think, wink)

death could fly high.

In his arms I’d sink;

the canyon would still be grand.

Standing at the rim,

life looking rather grim,

I could fall, a whim,

if it wasn’t for Him.

He’s always there … holds my hand.

Stand away, alone,

some things I condone;

my heart isn’t stone—

this path … is my own.

Some things I don’t understand.

Standing at the edge

of the rim rock’s ledge,

sin did me in, dredge!

To Him I now pledge

body and soul … to time’s end.

Standing … tears falling …

hear Him speak, calling.

My death he’s stalling …

for me He’s bawling.

“Take My hand,

one life We share … I’m with you.

Standing at the brink,

rim, grim,

alone,

I pledge

and stand

steadied by His hand.
