Clowns are supposedly All Smiles but, if you know them well enough, you learn there are tears hiding underneath. All wear masks; a clown is no different though expectations are.

Up, down comes merry-go-round sounds.
Elephants, tigers and clowns
sweet calliope sounds,
in a lot of big towns …
comes a circus
(with a purpose)
chasing all tears.

Up, down comes merry-go-round sounds.
Acrobats on trapeze,
contortionists who squeeze,
dogs with fantasy fleas.
Under a tent
(with quarters spent)
applause and cheers.

Up, down comes merry-go-round sounds.
There’s fear, sorrow, in clowns
(those things hide upside down).
They must SMILE! It’s profound
with their ‘smile’ wiped
(give up their hype)
they’re actors, dears.

Up, down comes merry-go-round sounds.
The performers party
on junk, foods hearty.
Pitch in get hands dirty
it all comes down.
Again clowns frown
(let slide their tears).
