There are those who think things happen ONLY to them, who fear the worse, who are disabled, old, very young but, they are mistaken. Things--good and bad--happen to everyone. What makes the difference is how we handle them. There was an article here in Oregon about a man whose hand was trapped beneath a boulder, he was bleeding, freezing to death, so he chewed off his hand. He made a decision to live that many wouldn't agree with ... but every moment one makes decisions--willingly or not.

The most cruel moments hold the greatest information;
harrowing times prune, hone, human determination
like a dagger in the spleen.
There's a primal spot between
sane and otherwise.
The pivotal moments in life will be remembered;
some with joyous anticipation unencumbered,
others encrusted, bare fear,
bring forth mistrust and tears ...
forget the disguise!
The fine-tuning moments of life can be gut-wrenching.
We have to seek strength, go on, keep our nerves from clinching
no matter how we feel,
must deal with what's real ...
sane or otherwise.
That's very true. "The most cruel moments hold the greatest information"... a statement I can confirm. Life, as we know, is a mixture of cruelty and grace. Existence being determined by both components, we can't avoid either. Very well stated, Sandy.
I remember that incident Sandy when the guy had to chew or cut off his hand, I always hope I have to go through something like that, anyway great poem to ponder
