Life without laughter is denser, darker, than ebony and that cannot be. Picture: me, Silly Sal the Clown (17+ years) with an Cherokee Indian chief at a fair where we were both performing.

Wit

Whatever it takes to get by
do it joyously ... with laughter.
Why else would the good Lord give wit?
Times may bring sorrow, disaster,
yet most find some way to survive.
There's togetherness where folks hive,
pull together for each other.

Whatever it takes to live, life
lived without play is misery.
Tears and laughter, like a glove--split--
when a horde of emotions spill.
Changes come in everyday style.
Normal rarely lingers a while.
Variants can be a bother.

Whatever it takes, do give thanks
for living life everafter.
Perhaps His greatest gift is wit!
It eases us about, bouys faith.
Even among our enemies
we can forge past animosity.
Laughter and wit ... ours forever!

I read it somewhere that compared to older generations, people laugh less nowadays. Is it another good instinct that we are forgetting?

Couldn't agree with you more for although we all must get down or feel poorly at times it is when our humor kicks in that we really come alive.
