Hear a screech in the night,
all nature aflutter
another child vanished
from their mother
and screams shatter the dark.
Red splatters of evil
leave their marks on the trees.
The stench of life fleeing
catches wild attention.
The caw of the sparrow
calls the minion--
old owls pause, hoot in tears.
Even buzzards forsake
those of such tender years.
A grizzly discov’ry
(men are most inhumane)
used, dumped, forgotten
on another’s domain.
Animals truly wild
do not molest others
but respect all creatures
as brothers and sisters.
Hear a screech in the night--
another deed done wrong.

Welcome to the Den Sandra! Your poem was quite well written! I loved how you wrote "discov'ry". I love it when people do that. You're the first I've seen here at the Den do that ;) I hope you much luck here, but I forsee lots of friends for you. You've good poetry!
The fortunate inherit riches, prestige, positive notoriety. Those not so lucky bear legacies filled with poverty, infamy or, worse yet, the unhinged insanity and murderous urges of their ancestors.
Gods and Goddesses Bless

Happy New Year!!
