A California man,
driving, said to his wife,
“If I could I would spend
all the days of my life
somewhere in Oregon.”
God heard him quite clearly,
and set a loose rock free.
It fell upon the car
squashing only the man.
He had no time to scream
or denounce this—his dream.
His last day—the whole span—
was spent in God’s company . . .
in Oregon’s lush forestry.
Calling God is local
if you’re in Oregon.
He’s a friendly neighbor—
prone to grant a favor.
When all is said and done,
be careful what you say . . .
for God listens every day.
