All stands still, it has, always will,
‘tis times’ solemn mortuary.
Lighting has changed,
it’s time to go
on a road long, twisted, side-winding.
It’s cool to hear the mocking bird,
in my head replay Holy words,
savor the scent, sweet evergreen,
enroute to a new land … unseen.
All stands still, it has, always will,
‘tis times’ solemn mortuary.
The breeze whispers,
calling so low,
Ready, didn’t hear my named called
so I hung on … didn’t let go.
So amused, He just let me be,
remarkably, on my own …
wanting to see how I was prone.
All stands still, it has, always will,
‘tis times’ solemn mortuary.
Dust falls, covers,
Deaths’ dressing gown.
Ev’ryone extends their smiles, hands,
and I cannot refuse a one
until I’m down, my deeds all done.
Wrinkles are spreading, I’m weary.
It seems I’m hearing more clearly.
All stands still, it has, always will,
‘tis times’ solemn mortuary.
The light has changed …
I’m moving on.
