The Color of My Skin

Not to encourage a threat or spark controversy, but a quick poem skin color identifying difference, often admired, and incriminating with misguided judgment (stereo typing).

The color of my skin is amazingly beautiful; it shines in darkness as a beacon of hope. It sparkles as it glistens with sweat from a night of passion. It’s smooth in complexion as it darkens with heat, or lightens with cool of day.

My skin color is the envy of many and the drive for hate. It is motivation behind vindictive acts, it is the flag of identification, a target of anger, and yet it’s the strength one cannot jail, or challenge one to one.

Oh, but my skin...its the turn of ages and appealing as it is, its the drive of multiple pleasures.. the contrast offered, the rainbow of affliction, or the rule of admiration.

My skin, brown and toned, smooth as silk, speckled as stars of darkest night,  the reason one hums a tune for affection, and bellows the will to move..

My skin, the motivation to move mountains, and harbor the earth as a brethren  gift..  Its what compels good or bad...and scares the living but loves the dead....its the past and future all based on assumptions...and the fear of success as my skin rises above
