Finish The Job

A poem about grabbing an opportunity and seeing it to the end

 

                      FINISH THE JOB
 
When opportunity knocks
Expect some opposing shocks.
Seeing it to the end
Will great success send.
 
To waver under test,
And to not give your best,
Is to failure yield
And little confidence build.
 
So every moment seize
And never give in to ease.
Cross the finish line
And satisfaction there find.

Tremendously encouraging poem! I especially like the way you point out that the going may be rough. Once, I went rock climbing with a friend. He got to the top first. As I was slipping back down- he encouraged me and then grasped my hand and yanked me up. Your poem is like that! a firm, encouraging hand up.

Great reflective poetic words for young and old alike. We all know when we are writing books the journey seems to last foever. But we need to finish the book. Sometimes we need to say, "It is going to be now or never." Say James, you just helped me to write the beginnings of a new poem. Thank you!
