Arrive at the hotel room
switch on Italian TV televisone
a monk appears using his hands a lot;
the warmth of Italy is like a big hug.
He's talking about St Francis of Assisi,
patron saint of animals and Italy,
feast day, October 4.
My fellow traveller,
Sig. Angelo, watches me closely,
watches Italy cast its spell
Believe me, signor,
I've got a lot of baggage to unpack.

I feel italy calling. Alas I am Catholic. And love it.
But I se the humour here. In Ireland they have wells etc for every Saint.. You show such beauty of Italy. Kinda like A Room With A View.
Your writing is top class.
Ah, haven't we all, Babe?! But, to make a start is the main thing... I remember this one well, Ken, and your Italian collection makes me feel especially warm and sunny.
