Caught in Love

I saw you as you poured on all your charms

And I’m still warning you

I’m not the kind who’ll fall asleep in your arms

We may make it to bed

But girl, you’re in way over your head.

When our time is through

And your smile begins to fade

When your babies and your banker

Wonder where you are,

You’ll begin to feel the pain

How did you let it go this far?

I smile when I wonder who you are

Wishing you were here in my car

But please don’t let me go

I’m beginning to feel the pain

Please take me home to your babies

And show me to your banker

You fell upon me like soft rain

I want to fall asleep in your arms

You warned me

As you poured on all your charms.

Fascinating twist ending to a clearly told tale. I love your direct voice and openness to the reader sharing your musings. Beautiful piece. Thanks for sharing.

I love the way this is written, and I especially like your last four lines, but in reading the reviews, I, too, have to say that I agree with Peter and his take on this. In any event, I love the way that this is written.

I see this as something else entirely. And I totally relate. Something that has to do with the creative, poetic heart. Some kind of atavistic streak which runs inside people like you, people like me. We're sensitive, needy, demanding. And we destroy any poor soul who comes in our path. We inflict pain, we feel it ever so deeply. A never-ending see-saw of raw emotion and explosive instability. Please pardon me if I'm wrong; but that's where I connected into this incredibly honest piece of writing.

I know this because I live it in very much as you express and thus I hugely appreciate your verses, Dayvid. Thank you. Love and peace to you,
