Many women have been told that they are not as good as men, that they have to look just so all the time, that they can’t do things for themselves or take care of themselves, that they’re ugly or fat or stupid. They are told their daughters are not as important as our sons. But those are lies. So when I was asked to write a poem for a shelter for women, this poem emerged from my heart.
EQUALITY in everything. Equal value to each relationship. Each with his and her part to play makes us fond parents; great grandparents and trusted. Your poem enters that world.
