I am drawn to the fabric
of this ornamental flat,
absorbed in the pain, the panic,
the haunting tale it tells
in its wild tragic beauty:
feathered flames tightly stitched
in finely textured gold and scarlet,
resplendent firebird wings
thread their way uncontrollably
on a prolonged subterranean screech
in silken flight through the blue
green carmine weave of a narrowing
cavern damned to the deep,
dank abyss of suspended oblivion,
fated never to emulate
the mythologic Phoenix consumed
by fire yet from the ashes rose
a new Phoenix .

your poem as expertly woven as the tapestry of which it speaks -- resplendent too, are the strokes of your pen in their flight across the shear white of the page -- JMW

Interestingly enough, my own mind pictured a tapestry brought back from the orient given to my mother...Your words allowed me to roam my eyes over its beauty once more! Thank you!

mmmmm....i want to run my fingers over your words, as i would the said tapestry; such beauty made, such beauty and attention. . .. yes; run my fingers and then palms over and over..to feel every fibre of BEing, every nuance of thread.bare detail. .. . you'd find me stretched on the loom and ready to be made. .. .by such a finely skilled artisan.
love the tactility of this.

I feel the torch of loves burn....then the renewals to burn more passions, as we can't resit it, and need it, and it grows
I love how your words weave the tale of erotic desires, or the many interpretations we can form from your poem, your a word wizzard

This is fine writing, the craft of words, their selection exceptional, weaving their magic as subtly as the fabric of which you write.

Storyweavers take their cue from textile artists, Gene...a word stitch of impression and illusion...an ornate and lyrical piece combining wool carder weaver's guild and quill-writer's guild...the creation of free hands execute the mediums which exhibit great inspirations in multiple narratives boldly enlivening Tapestry restored from Renaissance...

It sounds more like a person, than a mere tapestry Gene. Such beautiful descriptives.

For me, this was a beautiful, skillful blend of the intellectual, emotional and spiritual. I love your word choices, e.g., "dank" - a word we rarely hear or see used, yet perfectly suited to this poem. Keep writing and modeling and may the rest of us learn from your mentoring.

Gene - Love the way you've woven vivid images and the sounds of alliteration to create your own tapestry of words. Perfect form for this poem of rebirth. - David

Intriguing tale well recited with such intensity. Ah, the Phoenix, rising from the ashes every 100 years I think...

Be always safe,
