Gene, there is a psychedelic quality to your magnificent poetry -- you have so artistically provided the readers with a chronology of purpura and gently interlaced it with semantics -- someone should have penned this poem long ago -- peace to you my dear friend --- JMW

Dear Gene: Ah, man - I feel your "true colors" manifesting. I love it1 My second favorite color is purple. My first is sea-green. Two rooms of my house (each room is a diff color) are those two colors. I love this poem. Don't forget to use "indigo." I maybe would (I know you're not asking my advice) perhaps not repeat "red dye" -- maybe go with red violet or magenta ish -- or there's this other color - I don't know what it's called (google colors) it's a purplish/gray ---but really, I love this -- I like purple pleasures at the end, the alliteration, but if you use purple in the title (so far no title, you could skip it there at the end) --- no really, I want to see more poems from you on colors. What is your most detested color? Do that one next -- then maybe your next favorite one -- I expecially love the sea snails -- my older daughter once said to me, Mommy, purple and green do NOT go together. And my little daughter said, Oh yeah? Tell God that -- you don't like purple flowers????" Yup, she's a whippersnapper, all right. Way to go. Hot blood of abandoned gods has good false rhyme in it (hot,blood, gods) and I also like the afloat on shameless night - the sky is not afraid to reveal its purple passion at sunset! Wow,beyond the color itself, I knew that purple was worn by Western emperors and kings. 'scent of purple' taught me a lot more. I'll never think of the color 'purple' the same while I imagine the 'scent' as sexual. I enjoyed the close: fused in purple pleasures of forbidden passion. I enjoyed the alliteration. It's too bad that passion is forbidden in modern times--at least when we think of one groups addition to what is considered 'politically correct'. If we made love more often, we might have less war.

I never understood this worship of purple, why purple when such a color as green exists...but I'm straying...letting my personal preferences interfere...again Gene you display your talent all over the page...Great read Gene

I can't believe that you did that, Gene! I CAN smell it... and there's a club for us who's favorite color is purple. :0) Here's a couple more poems from a couple of us about the stuff: Axilea's "when blue note meets red note", and my "Me: I smelled like purple"... anyhow, every once in a while I see someone writing about it.

I have a theory about it too... that only those who are completely comfortable with themselves love purple. It's got two levels to it--that superficial crazy-fun outer laying, but it's also got depth--fathoms deep, near black, but with that amazing life-giving red to give it balance on every level. And as your heart has two sides, one red, oxygen full side, and one blue, returning, so does our soul have the same-- what we take in, and what we give. And the color purple is the combination of the two-- a balanced person who gives and receives equally, loves the color purple.

And if your favorite color isn't purple, then well... you can't be in our club after all :( But we won't hold it against you. Hey, other colors have good traits too...

You, Gene, are an artist of words.

My fiance's little Jeep Wrangler is a kind of purple, at least it looks that way in daytime and dark blue at night...though its not that Plum Purple that Chrysler used to use on some of its 70's cars, remember...Ed
