Wonderful, G. I see you've gotten lots of feedback on this poem, which I know it was hard for you to write, having told me of your dislike of yellow. Poor old yellow, having not a fan in Gene. But look what you did with it! Like Lloyd, I love the line, without yellow, would there be bananas? i also like your sense of humor. Geolu, pronounced Geolu (gee, that really helps). I see many are asking you now to take on their favorite colors. you are becoming the king of color. I would run with this, make a whole series, take on all colors one by one. Whether you do or not, you obviously have a thing about color. Without colors, would there be a Gene??? And the first line is a good opener with its dire implication, which then you go on to disspell: yellow is not a bad thing like smog; anyway, I like the assonance: long before smog. Yeah, long before smog, there was also L.A. Anyway, I won't ask you to write about my favorite color. But I would like to see if you could write a poem that incorporates synaesthesia, as I did: the sound of colors, their taste, their feel, their smell. I can't remember if you did that with the purple one. What about the color of love? What color is love? What color is reading the funnies on the john? Thanks Gene, for your ever-expanding mind and creativity.

ANd for me, light blue...the color of the sky and sometimes the ocean says it all. I love this, Gene.

My favorite color is YELLOW and my birthstone is Topaz and ask almost anyone and they will tell you I am a very perky, happy prson.We know Bonnie may is. Thank you for sharing a bright and wonderful write Gene.

A lovely light touch, Gene, less intense than 'scent of purple' but not less compelling...I love "geolu pronounced geolu" ...wicked!...and now you have me thinking of other yellows...belly, fever, jaundice, the royal colour of Thailand, Yellow Rolls Royce.. I'll shut up now but would you mind doing one on red, my favourite colour?

When I think of yellow I remember Frank Zappa's tongue-in-cheek lyrics: "watch out where the huskies go, and don't you eat that yellow snow."

Yellow for me, always reminds me of my favorite "L" sister...(it's her favorite), and so it reminds me of fun, and reading, and singing nonsense songs, and crazy-schemed shenanigans... Awesome color, Bonnie :0) --Charlie

When I think of yellow, I think of spring - not only daffodils and dandelions, but the new green sprouts and leaf buds that carry more yellow during the time of rebirth than they do as they emerge and mature.

You've written of purple, now yellow - might you consider someday deep, dark, affluent blue? When matched near a deep burgundy, there's no color I like better.

And I love you Gene, as well as this beautiful yellow write which touched me deeply. Mostly because I know how much work you had to do to come up with this lovely tribute to yellow, my favorite of all time colors. 'Montage Yellow' brings this vivid sun color to life in words. I love the line, "If there were no yellow, would there be...bananas?" Green ones that can't be eaten maybe since the flesh is like wood. I can't imagine a ripe banana that is green and of course there are bananas turning black suitable only for banana bread up-to-a-point. From the 'yellow ribbon' of hope to 'Mellow Yellow', I enjoyed this colorful wide ranging poem on wings that helped me to mellow out for the morning. Bring on more! What is the color of elections in America? That would be an interesting poem--my imagination is already thinking of how Gene would fashion red and blue into an ironic, sardonic political statement. By the way, the yellow cartridge in my color laser printer needs to be refilled. The machine keeps reminding me. I keep putting it off. I have to "get-around-to-it" soon. After all, what would color pictures be without yellow. A note: My wife was called a banana on the flight to China by another Chinese woman, a retired principal visiting America on her way back to China. Chinese tourists are now visiting America and loving it. When she called my wife a banana, it wasn't meant as an insult (at least that's what my wife says). Being a banana to the Chinese means you are yellow on the outside and white on the inside. Many Chinese love everyting American--which explains why McDonalds, Pizza Hut and Starbucks among other fast food franchises are flourishing in China and are considered fancy places to wait in line to eat at. Imagine a two or three story Pizza Hut or McDonalds packed with people.
