The walls we build around us to keep sadness out also keeps out the joy. ~Jim Rohn

TOLD BY CARESS

If these walls could speak

What would they say

Would they whisper secrets

Of yesterday

Would they share the past

Or guard it with greed

Touching the surface

What would I read

Between the cracks

What would I find

The diary of

An unspoken mind

Beneath a flaked surface

And chips that fell

Might surviving  pieces

Have a story to tell

Would the paint that remained

Be tenacious or flat

Thru one coat or two

Non-reflectively matt

Were the walls smooth and sanded

Primed by soft hand

Were they ready for color

Vibrant or bland

And where it was smooth

Was life boring or blessed

Shhhhh

Listen

These walls.......have a story

Told by caress

Pax

A beautiful write, we often wondered what walls could tell us and, how much of it we would be better off not knowing...

It is great to read you again, Anita!!!! I have missed your writings so much. And back with a bang you are, indeed. This is a wonderful poem...if only the walls could speak, especially those we build around our heart.
Take care,
Sherry

At one time or another we always build a wall around us - dead to the outside world; but once in a while, these walls do break.-
I find myself in these walls very often.

it's good to read you not just your reviews! the metaphor is apt...your defense like a wall. it's so hard sometimes to realize that guarding ourselves keeps out what we want as well as what we don't. ~A

Welcome Home!
As I read this, it became very clear how badly your talents were missed.
You painted beautifully in this, as though the walls were speaking from their souls.
Stunning work..and I'm so glad you are home.

Wow what a punch this poem yields as an introductory write or should I say a re-introductory write, regardless with work like this glad to see you back.

Looks like we're both back ;) I have often wondered about 'walls' what they absorb, emit or reflect. The internal walls especially. I really love this, great things to ponder here my Lady.

What a lovely surprise! So glad you're back...If walls could talk, indeed. I feel that houses absorb the spirit of those who have lived there. I was pondering this very subject not too long ago. Beautiful write, so soft...Lin
