Trying for a sci-fi, gothic, mysterious, feel here.........

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Evanesce
The quiet, slow stepping figure walked silently through the streets
Like a shadow, attached to its own shades upon the ground
Features veiled within a darkness, of non being
Passing unnoticed, by all visioned souls
It traveled within it's own duel sanctuary
As both mother and child unto itself
The palm cupping wombed liquid
Spilling it downward and away
Evaporating slightly on the descent
Leaving an impression on the dusty dried dirt
To be buried beneath it's own footsteps of silence
Yet attached to itself once more, fading away
Whole
And
Purged
a mysterious quality to this elusive figure seeking to consolidate or revitalize its own vanishing presence ...
... Yes, very... what you was aiming for! A real suck-it-and-see write and you have captured that mesmeric puzzle of the seen and unseen aspects of self very well. I feel I could follow this fascinating person through the shadows of midnight, into the foggy graveyard and down the steps to the light at the bottom of the crypt no problem... The feel to this is warm rather than shivery... or am I having a hot flush? :)) You do this genre so well... more please. TY K xx
The gradual fading away of our lives aside, there is a strong spiritual dimension to this write (can we not come up with other definitions beside 'write' 'read' 'poem' etc etc? Each sounds decidedly cliche! Ah well, maybe not).
Our lives, the memories we leave behind, even our name gradually disappears to become nothing more than a fading, weathered disfigurement on an old tombstone. We lie, dust like, beneath the footsteps we once paced, shared and sounded. Yet even in dust, for the believer, each particle will be re-attached when the trumpet sounds and Christ returns to receive us once more, but this time 'whole and purged' - in other words, we will re-emerge gloriously clothed in a spotless, seamless resurrection body - the phenomenon of evanesce will be wiped from the divine dictionary and indeed vocabulary.
Aye, that last verse sure served my devotional needs this morning, hen:)
Hands across the watter, hen, hands across the watter!
I really enjoyed this
to me I see the rebirth
first it is a shallow existance close to death of what was then spilling the liquid of past life letting it disolve cleansing yesterday to make way for tomorrows birth
"buried beneath it's own footsteps of silence, yet, attached to itself once more...fading away whole and purged," eerie, eerie, but enjoyable and suspenseful...I like it!
-Absolute beauty in your words Anita! I particularly love these lines and the image they evoke:
An entrancing and almost hypnotic theme here - like a scary movie you, want to look away but cant. There's some eerie intrigue you've spun with this - Spine tingling - enjoyed much. Panda :)
To be buried beneath it's own footsteps of silence
Fascinating, and this could probably be applied to all of mankind these very sad and silent days.
I picture here a lonley spirit, wandering the streets for what? Maybe searching or reliving a moment in it's life. Pity these poor souls!
Oh my what an engrossing portrait Anita! I can see it pouring itself out until it reaches a point where there is nothing but a small drop
of liquid left...Excellent write!
Eileen
