Some Memories Stay


Some memories stay, hidden away,
Repeating their snapshots of you.
Like a soft melody I remember,
From the old 33's of our youth.


I loved you so, from that instant,
You asked me to walk, just a ways.
That began our new life, as husband and wife,
Long ago, but...Some memories stay.


Tears, they were shed, from a heart slowly bled,
Drop by drop over years of our lives.
Looking back now I know, why we both had to go,
Our poor hearts had the will to survive.


Occasional calls, through my summers and falls,
Conjures pictures of our yesterdays,
Your face still appears, after all of these years,
How I've tried but... some memories stay.


My mind still reviews, handsome pictures of you,
So dashing and so debonair.
The rest are all gone, right where they belong,
In the past with our sad love affair.


Decades gone by, there's no tears in my eyes,
Ageing brings back the joy from those days,
As my life span grows thin, my heart-light grows dim,
Ah yes, but...some memories stay.
