~    Margo’s Tea & Ginger Thins    ~

Autumm fills my mind with thoughts of Frankfurt.
A young man in a different time and place.
I walked a cobbled road alone, neath a hidden valley,
Scarf wrapped around my chilly windblown face.

Frisky breezes circled leaves in wind games,
Moonlight danced across old cobble stones.
Illuminating countryside in perfect moonlit fashion,
A heavenly way to guide this soldier home.

Tonight held magic secrets in its darkness,
Creeping out to greet my weathered nose.
Sweet and toasty, tantalizing, warming all my senses,
"Margo’s Tea & Ginger Thins" sat longside the road.

How could I miss this beacon in my travels.
Ne’er did I see this tiny, quaint café,
Yet there it was in front of me, inviting me to linger,
Over tea and ginger thins, Margo made today...

A pot of steaming hot spiced tea, cuddled in its cozy,
A decorated honey pot, in place.
A jar of crunchy ginger thins, gracing center table,
A cup and saucer, napkins made of lace.

No crumb nor drop of tea, left on her table,
Satisfaction betrayed duty, in a nap
Awakened by my boot steps, on brown cobbles,
A tin of ginger thins hid in my sack...

Delightful, and so well sketched with colour and tantalising detail that feeds both spirit and senses. I very much like the elements of surprise and quirky, almost fairy-tale like juxtapositions here, Bonnie, and the visual sets it off a treat. A child-like wonder, thank you. Kate xx

The ending gave me sweet chills, Bonnie! I was intrigued by your title, and wasn't disappointed, this piece holds many poetic and humanistic elements poignantly in its breast. A delight to read!
