I am who I am
Five weeks of freedom, but no release
Will the containment ever cease?
I try my hardest to see how you see
But I am who I am, not who you want me to be
You are who you are, for better or worse
I am who I am, and to me that's no curse
Can't you just love me for who I am
If perfect I were, I'd be ashamed for the sham
I am who I am, I have no excuse
But I don't deserve your misplaced abuse
I know in my heart my values are true
And it hurts to know they're not good enough for you
It's everyone's right as being to be
Who they are in themselves, and for me to be me
My sins are many, but that's my cross to bear
And because who I am, there's no blame to share
But that's just me, my fault, my way
A wasted life? the wrong path you say?
But it's my life and my path, perhaps without plan
And that's alright, because I am who I am.
