The pounding rain upon the pane diffracts the halide glow
Sending splinters of light left and right creating an eerie show
Tortured shadows cast by the bars that stand behind the pane
Throw shapes from hell, across my cell and it’s screaming in my brain
I close my eyes to think of you, and put this hell aside
I try in vain, but the roaring rain won’t have this night denied
Goosebumps crawl across my flesh, and a thousand thoughts explode
I think of all the lies I’ve heard, and all the lies I’ve told
The notion that lies, above the truth, prevents a heart from bleeding
Destroys your worth and begins the birth, of a life built on deceiving
I see her face, her angelic face, but it is filled with so much sorrow
I’ll drink her tears, and allay her fears when she calls me up tomorrow
Alone I’m doomed so utterly consumed, I need her by my side
The rain is subsiding and I am sliding into a dream of an angelic bride
Peace at last, God let it last, and command this night be denied
