A great human being, I miss him so...

When he died,

That morning in winter’s new arms

His lids drew closure to his dimming eyes

A last breath and his fingers relaxed in mine

His face, miraculously youthful once more

My heart heaved and choked my cry

For a moment the world was void

I tasted oblivion once again

The place I was before my creation

My father, I will love you forever

Barebones naked pain in lines of loss -- undone. My big, strong Daddy passed away two years ago. I was not at home when it happened, living out of state. Never got the chance to say goodbye, except in words -- this one leaves me totally shattered. So sorry for your loss --

Your writing curves my thoughts around it as I read. Thinking aobut the moment when a person is between these realms while we are still in this one ... waiting; how we love them forever and go on, it is a great understanding and peace.

I'm coming up on and a year and a half since Dad passed away.
Last night I listened to a recording of him reciting William Cullen Bryant's poetry. We are fortunate to care and remember our loved ones so fondly.
Beautiful poem.
Bask in the memories.

John
