A Trance

Poem Artwork

While the breath is blowing,

All the six tones

Of the 12-vent flute of bamboo

Sound different,

And its cessation, accordingly,

Makes them cease of themselves.

 

Both of such things arise from

The breath and the flute vents

By themselves--

Should there be any other elements

That excite them up to the state

Of falling into a deep trance? . .

I fell into a trance while reading the last poem, but it had something to do with the poem itself, but with digesting food in the early afternoon. now I struggle to read even the simplest poem like yours.
