The rustle of pine needles Reminds me of my past sins; The gurgle of boiling water Tells what I've left unclosed. P.S. Hence, I'm going to climb down This shady but knotted pine tree To brew another pot of strong tea To keep talking over my sinful past With the needles upon the pine crown-- The branch of the Celestial office of fairness.

The fact the tree has taken on many "knots" is a meaningful characteristic/metaphor to accentuate the youthful nature of its continual harvest of fresh pine needles. Yes, the choice of a pine tree becomes even more instructive when one considers the strength of it seasonal hide, its ability to survive, and perpetual willingness to be there for us. This work is so calm and tender in its message. Thank you.

Not to worry, Alex. Everyone has confessions to make for past sins and if they pretend otherwise, they are lying. This confession is particularly artful (and poetic), taking place in a pine tree, known for its whispers. John
