The famously known Biblical saying states:
' Love your neighbour as you love yourself!'
Following this, I treated a colourful bird
Which formerly came and took up its seat
On my fruit tree for a rest in my courtyard.
I was so much pleased with it and provided
A dish of salad, stew, cutlets, some wine
And many sweet things for dessert to feast it,
Causing also the nicely sound music
To be performed to delight it in the fullest.
But the bird began to be sad, looked dazed
And did not venture to eat or drink.
As I've been later told by one of my friends,
That was what other men named
'Nourishing a bird, as you'd nourish yourself.'
Alas, but I have understood it too late
That he who would nourish a bird
As a bird should be nourished
Has to let it perch in a deep forest,
Or let it float on a pond or lake,
Or let it find its food naturally
And undisturbed on the level dry soil.
But that I tried then to delight it,
According to the sacred covenant,
With the music of drums and guitars --
Could the creature helps being frightened?!
Love ya!
