LA Woman (I)
Bending over the map
Of Los Angeles,
I dowse for my better half. . .
The violet glow
Pokes up thru my curtains.
NY Maiden (II)
With a pair of special rods
In my both fists,
I dowse for my better half,
Bending over the map
Of New York City. . . Alas,
The pale dawn is awaking
Upon the Hudson sky line.
Paris Witch (III)
Somewhere between
The blood red sunset
And foreign daybreak,
I try to grope for
My better half. . . in vain.
The mock sun is hanging over
The map of Pére-Lachaise.
The modest ceremony
Right at noontime July, 1971.
While a graduate student I stayed, with a family and shared a room with a 15-year-old. He occasionally went up to Marin County where his sister lived and told me that he hung out with the Doors.
