Sometimes the craving for sunshine is overwhelming.
Darkness is upon the face of the earth.
The hour is right
For sol’s rays to appear,
But they cannot bore their way through
This stubborn layer of murk that hangs about.
Hopeless they’ve been in piercing
This witch’s brew for days now,
And it’s hard to say where the answer lies
In vanquishing this miserable state I‘m in.
But this I know:
A basket bursting with sunshine
Could restrain the multitude of sorrows
That plagues my spirit and severs me
From the flashes of happiness
That desire to inhabit my soul.
As a lifelong sufferer from depression...I identify so well with this poem..'A basket bursting with sunshine'..is such a wonderful and uplifting line..gladdens my heart!
