On December 2, 2012, I lost my sister, Margaret, to diabetes, kidney failure, and pulmonary hypertension. She was tormented with pain during this life, but now she can rest throughout eternity. Margaret, dear sister, I never told you this, but I always loved your name.

So many thoughts flood my presence.
Why did I allow you to leave
Without spending more time with you—
Listening
Laughing
Reminiscing
Questioning
Gathering your lifetime of thoughts.
You left when I was only five—you fifteen.
Again, you departed when I was sixty-nine —
And you ten years my senior still.
What happened to those in-between years
And the fifteen at home with Mother and Daddy?
Those are the ones I wanted to know about.
But they are gone...passed on...no more.
I close my eyes, and they reunite with yours—
Sense them smiling with a familiar tenderness.
In moments, oh, so brief
My soul calls out to you, whispering— I need to call Margaret,
See if she feels somewhat better today. Then, just as quickly, reality sets in,
And I somehow know you are—

David...I am truly touched by your words, and am so sad you have lost your dear sister...but as you say, no more pain. I can also identify with wishing you had found out more of what occurred within those 'lost years', but somehow life has a habit of getting in the way...me too...with dear lost ones..However,I truly believe they are still around us...and it is amazing how 'lost' pieces of information can surface, and we can finally put those lost pieces of the jigsaw in place. My thoughts are with you my friend...
