There are a lot of good stories and fond memories, but I tried to keep it short and sweet.
Needless to say, we shall all miss her dearly, especially her buddy, Dee - a two-year-old female terrier mix, who kept her company for the past two years.
Part Lab, part Doberman,
We got her when about eight months old.
We loved her and raised her in our Family.
This lasted about eight years.
When our daughter Ann moved out on her own,
Heather went too - to protect her - another three years.
When Ann moved to California, she was taken by a Friend.
Charlie loved and kept her for eight more years.
When we visited her Sunday to say our Goodbyes,
It was truly sad - old age had taken its toll.
Time for Restful Sleep - so Tonight,
Our Missy Heather is going to Doggie Heaven!
May She and All the Souls of the Faithfully Departed

That is so sad isn't it. I believe that all dogs go to heaven when their mission has ended. I wonder if they don't all start out in heaven and get assigned to specific families for a reason I'm not too certain of. But, this I know for certain, dogs love us unconditionally. The will protect us even if it means they may lose their own lives in the process. Just recently we read in the paper about a poor dog who was washed overboard in a storm near Australia. The grief stricken owners believed he was dead, but a coast guard went to a small island he patrolled about once every 6 month or so and there, low and behold was the dog. Skinny from hunting rodents, scared and lonely. When reunited with his master, he flew out of the guards arms and into the loving arms of his master. This story too makes me cry. We have several dog waiting for us in heaven. All the more reason to want to go. Many hugs, love and a few tears, J'nia
I am sorry for your loss, Tom; you are in my prayers and thoughts tonight as you remember your sweet baby! Pets have a way of wrapping their paws (and their hearts) around ours; they become an integral part of the family! I know!

I know what is in your heart, Tom. I've had too many pet-children leave this Earth and it's not easy on the spirit. Now have 5 kitten-siblings that are 15 years old, one that is 12, and the 7th now 5. I'm trying to outlive the most of them, as it would be hard to find homes for them all! Peace, My friend.
