The Evil

The Evil are the beings we believe-
But that’s a lie, in truth- they’re not our peers;
But mechanisms programmed to deceive-
Just following instructions without tears.

Such time is wasted reasoning on this…
And fretting how to change unpleasant ways-
Our cries are simply noise which they dismiss-
As reason only puts us in the haze.

Don’t look for patterns, even what they gain
Is nothing we could ever understand.
They feast in glee on our unwitting pain-
And we give in as Evil has it planned.

The One, all knowing, knew just what to do,
But there was only one thing He could say-
The Evil, the all knowing- never knew-
And told them that, so they would go away.

The Evil live by what we want to know
But do not know, because it is a lie…
We’re taken when we want to love them so,
As those who love us wish they could ask why?

Why do you love them? Fathers, Mothers, Wives,
Or Husbands, Children- wishing they would be-
The roles you wish- instead- the ruined lives-
Of those so blind because they will not see.

There is no doubt when love is manifest,
Or when there is no hint of love at all.
Wake up and live, the truth must be confessed-
It’s time to read the writing on the wall.

John H. Bidwell

John, I read this and felt a conflict within me, I cannot judge anyone, for we all hold the key to our own happiness. I would like to believe that those who deem to be evil are not able to "see" as we all do. They are the unfortunate ones...

We all live our lives to the best ability that we are capable of. One can only do so much with all the adversity in this world..I choose to be peaceful, light, and full of love.

Many blessings to you,
Amber "V"

Very strong meter here, John. I heard a solider's drum rapping away while reading it.

John this is so compelling and it made me examine and think. We alone are who we are and cannot expect others to be like us or expect our pain to change them.

evil is the absence of knowledge and love ... you poem explores such criteria quite expressively ...

Wise, apt, and timely counsel, John. Thank you for sharing it via your verses here. Love and peace to you,

The evil is all around us, yes, but so too is righteousness. You make some good points here and ask some pertinent questions as well. I enjoyed this poem. J'nia <> <

There's nothing so plain as the writing on the wall. So why is it we enlightened ones stumble through life and its many pitfall?

You're right, John. We're wasting our time reasoning and fretting. Best we open the throttle, "Full speed ahead." I know not where we'll go, but at least we'll get there quickly.

This is one fascinating poem, John. I love it but know not why.

Richard
